I found this on a stray piece of paper in my office. I don’t know if I wrote it or copied it:
His father was the most gentle man he had ever known. His father never had a harsh word for anyone, never raised his hand against his son, never even raised his voice at this unruly and violent boy he could never understand. He would mutter softly, not really saying anything but speaking volumes about love and caring as he stroked the boy’s hair, calming him as one would calm a frightened horse.
It doesn’t sound like something I would write but I hope it is.
